Research and Data Analyst

Baltimore Action Legal Team (BALT) is seeking a full-time Research and Data Analyst. This position is a unique opportunity to support a small, grassroots legal organization that is committed to ending structural racism and economic inequality.
Basic Function
The Research and Data Analyst will be responsible for developing data reports, briefs, presentations and other publications in advance of BALT’s mission.
Responsibilities
Perform quantitative and qualitative research and writing for a range of projects, as requested by the Director of Litigation, the Director of Policy and Engagement, or the Executive Director. The research and writing cover various issues relating to racial justice and inequality and will be used for litigation in Maryland courts and advocacy efforts with local and state legislators.
Responsible for developing data reports, briefs, fact sheets, memos, blog posts, presentations, and other publications
Collaborate with external partners, including Baltimore Courtwatch, OJB, and UB Law Data Clinic, to produce sound methodologies and analysis that uncover the unjust practices of the justice system
Project strategy implementation and project management support, including careful, detailed note taking
Serve as lead contact for any and all data questions, applications, including media inquiries and external partner requests
Responsible for cleansing data of internal and external applications and databases
Complete ad hoc data requests for partners
Skills and Experience
Deep commitment to and enthusiasm for BALT and the city of Baltimore. Willingness to understand Black organizing, Black liberation, intersectionality, anti-oppression principles and practices with experience utilizing personal and organizational interactions.
Able to effectively represent BALT to a variety of audiences and communities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Able to provide leadership within a fast paced environment.
Ability to work well with a team.
Exceptional organizational skills for effective project management.
Experience with SQLPro for Postgres
Expert in MS Excel
Ability and willingness to problem solve and learn new apps/software/website
Position: Full time employee. 40+ hours per week.
Compensation: $50,000 (Negotiable)
Location: Maryland
